Uman Greenhouse Complex

High flexibility and a high security of supply with big savings on heating prices

In 2022 Linka Energy A/S delivered a biomass plant to Uman Greenhouse Complex. With a new system, the Ukrainian vegetable producer can heat up their glasshouses with cheap, CO² neutral biofuel – straw from their own fields.

Uman Greenhouse Complex is one of Ukraine’s leading growers of vegetables among other cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce, under glass. The plant is situated in the Uman area about 200 kilometers south of the capital city Kiev. The vegetables are grown in 14,000 m² glasshouses, where a constant temperature is needed.

The Plant

The straw plant at Uman Greenhouse Complex consists of a Linka® TWIN straw shredder installed with a 39-meter conveyor. An automatic destringer is delivered together with the straw handling equipment. A 5,000 kW Linka® H hot water boiler has a built-in step grate. Along with Linka’s patented combustion technology this ensures optimal use og the fuel. The ash is automatically transported outside the plant to a nearby ash pit.

The straw system is also prepared for a bag filter, which will clean the flue gas and hereby reduces dust emissions. Control of the plant is done with a PLC control system that monitors the plant and sends out alarms via internet and SMS.
